Following a disastrous year for the government in regards to illegal Channel migrants entering the UK, trust in the Conservatives to oversee UK asylum and immigration has plunged to only 3 percentage points above Labour.
On January 4, 2021, the Conservatives received 33% of the vote, while Labour received 19%. Since then, 28,300 illegal migrants have crossed the Channel and entered the United Kingdom. This was three times more than those who came in 2020.
Trust in the Conservatives to manage our borders has dropped to 22% as of January 2, 2022, while Labour’s has remained at 19%. This significant decline of 11% demonstrates that confidence for the Conservatives surrounding immigration control is continuing to dwindle under the current leadership.
