With the EU continuing its push to punish Britain over Brexit, EU diplomats have been boasting that a successful Scottish Independence referendum would be a “national humiliation” to the union of the United Kingdom, stating it would be “payback for Brexit”.
The First Minister of Scotland, who dreams of one day re-entering the EU, had warned Boris, as she secured her fourth consecutive victory in the Scottish elections, that the only people who’ll decide the fate of Scotland is the “Scottish People”.
Witness to what is being said in Brussels, Director of the Scottish Centre on European Relations, Dr Kirsty Hughes, recites EU diplomats saying British PM shouldn’t pick “a fight with the democratic wishes of the Scottish people” adding doing so could see “the will of the country” voting to take Scotland out of the United Kingdom which would trigger the start of the crumbling of the union.
Trying to put a lid on this, Boris has previously said there are no current plans to hold a second independence referendum. Boris said in The Telegraph, “I think a referendum in the current context is irresponsible and reckless.”
