FRENCH ARE FUMING – UK EU fishing deal agreed last week did not include rights into Jersey’s fishing waters.

Though there was a deal struck between the UK and EU on fishing last week, that agreement did not cover fishing rights around Jersey waters which the French are fuming about.

Confirming this was France24 News reporter who said: “The agreement does not resolve the dispute that erupted around Jersey last month between French and British fishermen which prompted the UK and France to send navy ships.”

“Those fishing rights will be discussed at high-level Brexit meetings next week.”

The EU is said to be very happy with the deal that was agreed on last Wednesday between Environment Secretary George Eustice and EU fisheries boss Virginijus Sinkevicius.

Whitehall did say that they were preparing for a backlash from those in the UK fishing industry due to the deal.
