So far this year, those that we know of who have crossed the English Channel by small boat making it into Britain illegally has gone up from 1,400 to 3,107. The number is double compare to last year with numbers expected to reach between 15,000 and 20,000 this year.
We’ve also seen a massive increase of illegal migrants who have made it to Britain by beaching on the coast and doing a runner inland, never to be seen again. So far, there isn’t any current deterrent trying to deter people from coming to Britain illegally.
As of May 16, a total of 3,107 people have made the dangerous trip across the British Channel since January, according to Migrant Watch UK. This is compared to around 1,400 over the same period last year. Earlier this month, nine small boats carrying 209 migrants crossed – the highest number in a single day this year.
