Historic win. Hartlepool has elected a Conservative MP for the first time in more than 50 years. The Tories won the seat by nearly 7000 votes. This morning, Labour MPs have been making all kinds of excuses as to why they lost.
This win shows, Labour is no more. The red wall is completely demolished in the North. Labours Steve Reed, Shadow Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, said the Tory win shows trust still need to be rebuilt between the people and Labour. The shadow minister also admitted so far; they don’t know how to.
Many Labour figures have come out criticising Keir on social media. John McDonnell said Starmer’s Labour flopped in Hartlepool because they didn’t have any ideas. Saying, “in any election, you need to put up an argument. Labour went into this campaign without having an argument…a campaign.”
