READERS OPINION: “My greatest concern with everything that’s happening or highlighted at the moment is the loss of freedom of speech and accepting differences of opinion.”

Parliament Hill

A few days back we asked our readers on Breaking Brexit News on Facebook to send in their opinion on current events.

We had a number of responses from our readers. One response from a guy called Mark from Cambridge made a great argument around the erosion of free speech.

Mark wrote: “My greatest concern with everything that’s happening or highlighted at the moment is the loss of freedom of speech and accepting differences of opinion.”

“It’s not right that we seem to have reached a point where there are subject matters that are not openly discussed without possibly being shut down or loosing a job because you say something that some people disagree with or find offensive.”

“We have the right to say how we feel, we are allowed to feel offended and say something that some may find offensive , people can have an opposing opinion, it’s healthy to have discussions on difficult subject matters and to disagree, but overall freedom of speech is most important!”

“Too many people now are silenced through fear, and we are only hearing the voice of minorities! Let’s enjoy the fact that we have different views and keep talking.”
