Nigel Farage joins Arlene Foster’s call for Boris to trigger article 16 to prevent Irish Sea trade barrier.

Nigel Farage has signed a petition hoping others follow to demand Boris to trigger article 16 of the Brexit agreement.

This call to action from Nigel Farage comes after the DUP leader Arlene Foster set up a petition saying Northern Ireland is being cut off from the rest of the UK with trade.

Nigel said: “It seems that Northern Ireland is being increasingly cut off from the rest of the UK in terms of trade.

“I am signing this petition to put pressure on the Government to do something and urge Brexiteers and those that believe in the UK to do the same.”

The petition calling for the triggering of article 16 reads: “Her Majesty’s Government must immediately remove any impediment or barrier to unfettered trade within the United Kingdom.

“After just one month, Northern Ireland is suffering real economic and societal difficulties as a consequence of the Northern Ireland Protocol operating and creating new barriers to unfettered trade within the United Kingdom and disrupting supply lines of goods to Northern Ireland.

“The Government should use all the powers it has to move urgently to protect UK trade and to ensure all UK goods and produce can freely flow to and from every part of the United Kingdom.”

In recent days, Boris has said that he is ready to break elements of the Brexit agreement related to Northern Ireland, but again it seems the pressure is needed from Mr Farage to make him listen. What’re your thoughts on this? Should Boris trigger article 16?

we should have left with no deal. it was the only way to leave the eu. yes it would have consequences and yes there would have been issues but over time it would have evened out and then the benefits would have come home for everyone. but instantly, our fishing waters back eu not allowed to fish from day 1. borders back under our control….do not let them land on british soil, rescue them and feed them but dont let them land …put them aboard cruise liners/ ferries/ navy ships,,, process them and send majority back to france from whence they came.. let those who have a right to be here, stay (if they have a right to stay here why are they entering illegally?). etc etc etc NO DEAL is only way…..border in ireland needs to be there for goods only.
