The destructive antics by the EU Commission over recent days has angered many MEP’s. One Finnish MEP blasted the Commission. Laura Huhtasaari told the Express newspaper: “The handling of vaccine purchase has been a clear failure of the European Commission led by Ms Ursula von der Leyen.
“The aborted attempt to impose a vaccine import ban on Northern Ireland underlined this and cast a dark shadow on the Commission’s credibility and ability to lead the EU through difficult times.
“Just remember with which fervour the EU preached the UK about the importance of adherence to the content of the agreement.
“Moreover, the Commission failed to consult or even inform Ireland, the EU Member State most affected by the decision, of its intention.”
Even though the Commission Chief signed off on the published and pushed actions, Ursula Von Der Leyen still tried to pass blame elsewhere. Her spokesperson blamed the Executive Vice President saying: “What I can tell you is that there is one cabinet which was lead on this, that is Executive Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis because he is in charge of trade.
“This regulation falls under the responsibility of Mr Dombrovskis and his cabinet and of course, the services of the commission which respond to him.”
Whichever way you look at this mess caused by the commission chief, the blame game is still very much alive. It’s staggering that those in high places palm off the mess they caused on others rather than taking responsibility and putting the problem right.
