Reports suggest that Former Brexit Party MEP’s are angry at the thought of Barnier been given an offer by UK negotiator David Frost which state EU fishers are allowed to keep two-thirds of the current EU quota. This as long as the EU backs down in other areas of negotiations.
This has sparked outrage amongst Brexiteers who have said, the deal on fisheries will be the real litmus test on the outcome of Brexit. Former Brexit Party MEP Jake Pugh has said: this is “totally unacceptable”.
Jake said: “Talk is five-year transition and UK gets only 35 percent of fish. Totally unacceptable after four-and-a-half years of waiting.
Frost set to BACK DOWN on fishing demands - Britain on brink of Brexit deal with EU https://t.co/vhOrZkfMDV @DavidGHFrost, is this correct ? @MrMasonMills have you been leading your followers up the garden path ? “Furthermore, the EU wants the option to impose cross retaliation tariffs when they rejected the notion of a tariff-based deal months ago.
“This is total cakes, and the UK must reject this proposed deal and see the level playing field for the trap that it is.
“Totally unacceptable for UK fishers and coastal communities.”
The outspoken Former Brexit Party MEP June Mummery has said: “If Frost has sold us out, the coastal and fishing communities will be finished, we need to completely rebuild now if we are to save British fishing. “A transition period will be the death of us.”
Ann Widdecombe has also spoken out on this saying “Nothing short of full control of our own seas should even be contemplated.”
It’s very clear that if Boris backs down on fisheries after promising the UK fishermen the return of quotas and waters, then Boris will go down as a failed politician who sold out fishing communities.
