French President Macron has been deliberately trying to collapse negotiations to force Britain to concede on fisheries.
Macron wants EU fishers to have maximum quotas while having open free access into Britains sovereign fish-rich waters.
Macron is attempting to be heavy-handed, wanting to give Britain nothing in the hopes it brings Boris and his team of negotiators back around the table in the New Year without time limits.
This stance has caused a significant rupture in the EU’s Brexit team after Barnier has said if hardline EU states push towards No Deal he will not be returning as Chief Negotiator.
Barnier has been under pressure from EU states like France to walk away if Boris doesn’t concede to their demands on fisheries and level playing field.
Barnier has been given till the end of the week to state whether Britain had offered enough concessions to seal a deal. Otherwise, it’s the end of the road.
