Today Britain notified the European Union on its intention to withdraw from any future EU military missions. This notification will be enacted at the end of this year when the transition period ends.
Britain was the biggest military power in the EU. It was the crown jewel in the future of the European Union’s aim of an EU army, something Nick Clegg said was a fantasy. Negotiations back in March 2018 stated that Britain wouldn’t be taking part in any missions under the EU when the transition period finished at the end of 2020.
It’s been reported that Spain and Italy will plug the gap left by Britain.
