Irish minister claims “the country that needs a deal the most, is the UK.”

With Boris Johnson heading for the exit on an Australian style agreement, the EU are playing down that fact that they played a high risk strategy and blew it. Speaking to Channel 4, an Irish minister claimed “the country that needs a deal the most is the UK.” Boris said the opposite, instead Boris has high hearts as we now focus on leaving the EU on an Australian style agreement, leaving the EU in tatters.

Boris wanted a free trade deal but was refused by the EU. Boris said: “To judge by the latest EU summit in Brussels that won’t work for our EU partners. They want the continued ability to control our legislative freedom, our fisheries, in a way that is obviously unacceptable to an independent country.”

”Given that they have refused to negotiate seriously for much of the last few months, and given that this summit appears explicitly to rule out a Canada-style deal, I have concluded that we should get ready for January 1 with arrangements that are more like Australia’s based on simple principles of global free trade.”

“So with high hearts and complete confidence we will prepare to embrace the alternative.”

“And we will prosper mightily as an independent free trading nation, controlling our own borders, our fisheries, and setting our own laws.”

  1. When this all settles and everyone has their own inquest, with thoughts depending on their being aggrieved or being pleased, history will show a story.
Of a nation, intent on achieving their ancient independence, attempting to negotiate an equitable parting, being thwarted by implacability from those who hold the ties and restraints binding them, refusing to concede on these ties and restraints.
And finally breaking free, as we, the British, will always be..
    AS HISTORY SHOWS.

  2. Typical quote from another deluded EU partner. They Irish are now wondering what will happen. Put tariffs on your exports and find out. We can go elsewhere for the products you sell so good luck with that attitude.

  3. We have to weather this storm of denial, threats and finger pointing for just a couple more months. Hope Boris really meant what he said and we do leave clean.
