German car industry cranks up the pressure on Merkel to tell Macron to drop his redlines on fisheries.

With President Macron refusing to back down on his redlines around fisheries, Angela Merkel is now under pressure from the German Car industry to remove the block. The worry coming from the German Car Industry is Macron’s position could destroy the entire Brexit deal leaving many sectors in the EU in tatters.

Barnier has been told to meet with Macron in an effort to soften his stance around fisheries. However, with the pressure on Macron from the french fishing industry, it will be difficult to see much movement.

This battle is now between the German car industry and French Fisheries; both industries are pressurising the leaders of their nation, telling them not to back down.

Reported in The Daily Express reported, Brexit Expert Professor Anand Menon as saying: “They are united, but they don’t agree.
“If you went into detail, and went to the 27 capitals, and asked what they wanted from a Brexit deal, they would all come up with different ideas.
“For the Germans, the notion that the trade-in automobiles will be hampered because of French fishermen is nothing short of barking mad.”

  1. Hardly any exports to the EU most of are imports to the UK we can do without or the public will have to pay more for them, so what? When we were a member the trade deficit was huge on the side of the EU that sent in more goods than we needed. I don’t suppose the Germans realise that cars and other good can be also hit with anti dumping tariffs just like in the US then what. To be honest no one that voted to leave wanted a deal with that EU organisation when they went to the polls.

The commentator on the video had me switching it off as he had no idea what the sense of feeling is in the UK after witnessing the demands on our sovereignty and still want total control over our laws and waters that is written into the WA.

Time the UK simply cut off any negotiations and rip up the WA. The EU is putting to many conditions on a clean break which will never be with this so called DEAL!
