BREXIT – Statement from meeting between Boris and Ursula.

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, spoke today about the state of play in the negotiations on the future relationship between the UK and the EU.

They agreed on the importance of finding an agreement, if at all possible, as a strong basis for a strategic EU-UK relationship in future. They endorsed the assessment of both Chief Negotiators that progress had been made in recent weeks but that significant gaps remained, notably but not only in the areas of fisheries, the level playing field, and governance. They instructed their Chief Negotiators to work intensively in order to try to bridge those gaps. They agreed to speak on a regular basis on this issue.

  1. Of course the aim is to find an agreement as a strong basis for our strategic relationship in future, but agreement is an elusive, probably unattainable outcome with the existing intransigence of the EU stance. Our remaining and only rational position is to also maintain our stated stance. Who blinks first will define who is successful.

  2. Let’s be fair they haven’t given an inch so far in the negotiations, they simply thought boris was another Theresa may and would sell out the uk, fortunately for us he got in Sir David frost and played the cards dealt, we have the aces not the eu

  3. this is our Country and if you do what Blair did and sell us down the river you will never hear the end of it and the Tories will never get a vote again.

  4. I thought the reason for leaving the EU was to gain a trading advantage but strangely the EU don’t want us to have it ,I find that unsurprising !

  5. Pay what we owe, walk away, tear up May’s surrender document, go WTO and keep the fish. All of them. Do not give them an inch of sea for any amount of years. Sovereign territory is not on the table.
