Today, Former Brexit Secretary David Davis was on Talk Radio giving his reaction to the EU commissions decision to go after the UK with a legal proceeding. Mr Davis said the EU would use every leaver available in the hope it gives the impression of being in charge. David Davis went on to say this is posturing from the EU and it’s no surprise as we enter into the final weeks of negotiations.
Mr Davis said: “The European Union use every single lever available to them…all sorts of posturing, and that’s why I think we should just ignore it.” When you look at the words used yesterday by the EU commission, it’s clear that this move is the only move left in their armour to play.
The wording was more warning than a threat. Ursula said the commission was to put the wheels in motion to start legal proceeding. However, it is not clear when this “start” will happen; hence why Boris and his team see this as political posturing. Why would the EU proceed with something that they know isn’t yet enacted?
