The Mainstream media are peddling high hopes for a deal between the UK and the EU. Michel Barnier has come to London for informal talks with UK trade negotiator David Frost before the main negotiations start next week in London where the two sides will meet and discuss to see if there’s a way through the deadlock.
Beth Rigby, who is the Sky News Political Editor, tweeted out: “Was decided in June there would be informal talks before the ninth round next week.
“EU source tells me that talks have been going a bit better than expected, and there is a ‘window of opportunity’ (subject to the full application of withdrawal agreement).”
As you can see, this newfound hope from the Mainstream media comes with a caveat, a trade deal in return for obedience to the demands of the EU and the removal of the Internal Market Bill.
The EU has a matter of weeks before their own deadline is reached. Yesterday we had the European Commission Vice President say that he will be meeting with Michael Gove. However, there will be no renegotiation of the Withdrawal Agreement. “Nothing more, Nothing less”.
