EU hypocrisy – Barnier’s claim that fish in British sovereign waters are not Britains, is in violation of international law.

Even though the EU is claiming the UK is in breach of International Law in regards to the Internal Market Bill, the EU itself violates international law when they claim the fish in British sovereign waters are not ours. Barnier made this claim after he said even though Britain will take back control of its Sovereign waters after the transition period, the fish in them are “another story”.
To clarify this claim that Barnier was wrong, a Political Scientist Anna Bailey who wrote a report in Briefings for Britain said: “As a matter of international law, Barnier’s assertion is simply false. What we colloquially refer to as ‘fishing waters’ is referred to in international law as a country’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
Fishing is set to boom after transition period from £1billion to £8billion per year.
“EEZs are defined by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), and reach to 200 nautical miles from a nation’s coastline, or the ‘median line’ if there are less than 400 miles between two countries’ coastlines (as is the case between the UK and the Republic of Ireland, for example).
“UNCLOS is crystal clear that national sovereignty (it explicitly uses the term’ sovereign rights’) applies not only to the waters but to ‘natural resources, whether living or non-living’ within them.
“There can therefore be no doubt that Barnier’s remark about the fish in UK waters being ‘another story’ is completely and unambiguously false.”
Some in the EU claimed that Barnier might have misspoken, but that isn’t true as Barnier was French Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries for two years meaning he knew precisely what he was saying.
This evidence presented shows again the hypocrisy by the EU, remainers and Mainstream Media on how they conduct themselves. How can they criticise Britain when their own words are in breach of international law. Why do the media not report on this yet trash Boris and Britain defending itself in these negotiations?
