Yesterday Britain celebrated a historic moment as it secured its first free trade deal with Japan. This deal is said to be being enacted in January 1st 2021 regardless of the struggles with the EU.
Many news agencies have tried to play this trade deal down in the hopes it makes Britain look bad and without friends in the world, this pressure is down to the rewriting of certain parts of the withdrawal agreement. The EU diplomats have been ordered to publicly criticise the UK on all media platforms in the hopes it damages Britains reputation. With the negative EU being put to one side, this deal with Japan has been put together in record time even in challenging circumstances.
British trade minister Liz Truss said: “This is a historic moment for the UK and Japan as our first major post-Brexit trade deal”.
“The agreement we have negotiated – in record time and challenging circumstances – goes far beyond the existing EU deal, as it secures new wins for British businesses in our great manufacturing, food and drink, and tech industries.”
