Two lots of talks have been taking place in London today, one set of talks is the continuation of the withdrawal agreement, and the second is emergency talks between Cabinet Office Minister Michael Gove and EU official Maros Sefcovic in London. Ursula von der Leyen, EU Commission President, is said to be furious over Boris rewriting of certain parts of the withdrawal agreement, so much so, the EU has now threatened legal action against Britain.
The meeting in London between Cabinet Office Minister Michael Gove and EU official Maros Sefcovic is to discuss the details over this change in the agreement. A European Commission spokesman said: “The EU seeks clarifications from the UK on the full and timely implementation of the Withdrawal Agreement.”
A document seen by Bloomberg states: “The European Union is studying the possibility of legal action against the UK over Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s plans to breach the agreement governing Britain’s withdrawal from the bloc.” While all this commotion is going on, behind the scenes, Brexiteer politicians are urging the PM to walk and leave on WTO rules.
One said: “We are at the point where unless European leaders tell Barnier to change his position, we are better off walking away. “Becoming an independent country on Australian terms is a far better outcome than what they are willing to offer. This has been obvious since the summer.”What’re your thoughts on this? Join the conversation below with your comment.
