French Politician exposes why Britain has the upper hand in these negotiations.

After Barnier failed in his eighth attempt to win over British trade negotiator David Frost, he decided to hit out with remarks stating London had refused to concede on even the basic demands from the EU. His comments were made at an event organised by the Irish think tank the Institute of International and European Affairs on Wednesday.

Barnier said that due to the constant deadlock on negotiations, a trade deal in the transition period is now “unlikely” to happen. A No deal scenario would be the worst outcome for the EU as economically there’s a massive £80 billion trade deficit between Britain and the EU.

In a bid to shine reality onto Barnier’s rhetoric, a Brexit campaigner and French politician Charles-Henri Gallois shared his reaction. In an exclusive interview with the Express newspaper, the French Brexit supporter said: “I think the UK is negotiating well.

Nigel urges Boris to be bold in these coming negotiation
“Boris Johnson has made clear that he will not accept a bad deal.
“And for this reason, I think it is very likely they will leave without an agreement.
“The EU wants to punish Britain for leaving so that other countries will not follow suit.
“But if you look at the figures and the trade surplus and deficit on both sides, the EU has so much more to lose under a no-deal than the UK.”
Mr Gallois added: “It doesn’t mean the UK will not suffer at all.
“But for example, Germany has €40billion (£35.6billion) trade surplus with the UK.
“You see? They have so much more to lose.
“The UK has an £80billion deficit with the EU.
“If they want to blow trade with Britain, it is on them.”
What Charles uncovers, shows Barnier’s rhetoric and redlines wouldn’t impact the UK as much as it would the EU, hence why the EU continue returning to the negotiation table in a desperate bid to seek a trading deal under their terms.
