With EU – UK trade negotiations continuing of 7th September we asked our readers their thought. We asked, “Should UK trade negotiator David Frost withdraw from trade negotiations on 7th September when Frost and Barnier meet for the eighth round of talks?”
We had nearly 700 comments in a matter of hours; the majority of comments said David Frost should call it a day and prepare for an exit without a deal. In the last round of negotiations, both sides said, as it stood, we were rapidly heading for a No Deal exit as Barnier said a deal was “unlikely”.
As a brexiteers I can categorically state that we never voted to leave with a deal, I like millions of others voted to exit the EU just as the question asked fully. Below, are some of the comments from the problem asked on our Brexit page. Join the conversation, have your say in the comments below.
“We have gone past the deadline agreed for a framework of a deal, so we are perfectly in our rights to withdraw now. It has been a complete waste of time… but we needed to try at least – but the EU have been totally unrealistic in their demands. WTO with a clean break now please.”
“If I have made it really uncomfortable for the British to leave, then I will have done my job!” Remember these words or similar, and tic toc tic toc. WALK away Now, no more pissing in the wind.”
“Slam that door hard behind you and then go back and slam it again. No deal. Out, Out, Out. And then if they want to talk afterwards it will be on our terms. They’ll want us before we want them.”
“Just walk away, the EU just won’t accept we are willing to go alone. It is not democratic a few chosen dictators making the final decisions on everything. They need our trade as much as we need theirs. Don’t forget how they have taken away our industry and allowed to set up in subsidised states in Europe.”
“I keep hearing remainers calling the EU or friends. Our so called friends. Been throwing threats at us from the start. Its called bullying. As a sovereign nation we have the right to leave the EU under our own constitution. I ask my self if what the EU say is so true it’s bad for the UK we will be poorer nation they claim to have given us so much. Then why are the EU trying so hard to punish us & trying to make it so difficult to leave ?. What is the EU so scared of ?. Why are they trying to make us have a level playing field ?. If what they are saying it’s so bad for the UK regards to trade with the rest of the world. What are they worried about. Competition may be. But they saying we will fail big time. So let us go & die on our own sword. Surely it’s going to benifit the EU. Unless it’s lies & propaganda been pumped out by the EU.”
