Today we asked our readers, “Should the UK withdraw from negotiations now, and prepare for no deal?”.
We had a massive response to this question on our Brexit Facebook page with over 500 comments in less than 2 hrs. It’s clear to see that the vast majority answered yes to this question. Many said “this has gone on for to long, we should just leave”, some where saying that “we didn’t vote to leave with a deal in the referendum.”
Below are some of the comments from today’s question. Also have your say in the comment box below. “Should the UK withdraw from negotiations now, and prepare for no deal?”
“The EU have no intention of giving us a good deal it is time to walk away with no deal keep 39 billion and wait for the 27 EU members come to us for a trading deal. The EU is finished they will eventually crumble leaving member states to repay the trillions they have borrowed. We cannot be associated with the EU in any form
We must get out now”
“They are only talking to us because we having things they want,, if we hadn’t do you honestly believe they would now be even give us the time of day,, they want more from us than they will give us,, so just walk away and see what happens,, the words “Cap in Hand” springs to mind”
“We are only asking for what has been offered to others. The EU is so arrogant and used to brow beating the UK that they will not accept that we have taken back our sovereignty and our fishing rights. I would be extremely sceptical of any deal and would prefer to leave without one. Then come back to negotiations when WE will be on a level playing field.”
“We were told that if a trade deal didnt look likely by June we would be leaving wto, that deadline has now been moved to October! It would be nice if they stuck to what they said as it just comes across that they will concede to the EU in the hope of some sort of trade deal and that its another May’s government in telling us one thing but doing the opposite!
This Government needs to get a backbone and realise we will never get the trade deal best for us. Pull out of the talks as they are going nowhere and we dont want a trade deal that has us tied in any way.”
“Yes they should, anyone with a brain knows that the EU will never give us what we want, added to that there is no trust between either the EU or the UK negotiating teams, each one thinking the other will rip them off, which is more than likely to be true. WTO is the only realistic way to to go, after 4 years its time to move on for everyone, stop this political posturing because that is all it it. I have always said we need more ordinary people in politics, it is not enough to successful to allow politicians alone to deal with this problem, otherwise we will remain in this constant flux of so called negotiations, let move on for everyone’s sake”
“Yes it is about time we ended the transition period, the EU are not going to stop moaning about their poor poor fish trade, not that they even cared about our fish trade, being able to tell us what we can catch in our own waters, now they are being petty over 14 day quarantine and then illegal immigrants crossing the English Channel and wanting more cash to do it as well, just say WTO.”
“Should have withdrawn from the beginning. The problem with the eu has always been it was never prepared to talk sensibly or back down on anything. They have had a take take attitude since the whole evil empire arose. That’s why we chose to leave in the first place. Nothing has changed. Nothing will. These talks about trade have never been such. They have only been seen by the eu as a way of delay and keeping the money coming in. They are absolutely futile, a fact we have always known. Ditch them now, absolutely NO DEAL. The best move we can make is out the door now and never return.”
