UNBELIEVABLE – The French have 84% of the Cod quota from British waters. EU gives Britain given just 9%.

EU coastal member states are in a panic as Britain, as it stands is set to take back its sovereign waters on 1st Jan 2021. Barrie Deas, the CEO of the National Federation of Fishermen’s Organisations has said the EU Fishing industry are set to be decimated as Britain will be in control over who can access Britains waters and quotas given.

Mr Deas said: “France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Ireland, and that is because when the UK joined the EEC as it was, the existing member states made it a precondition that the principle of equal access for fishing vessels was part of the deal.

“That meant that unlike the situation with Norway or normal coastal states, which control access over who fishes in their waters and access is negotiated, EU vessels have automatic access to the resource-rich UK waters.”

French fishermen threats blocking ports if they can’t fish in Britain waters

Mr Deas then goes on to give examples of past quotas given.

“You have situations like, in Channel cod, the UK share of that quota is nine percent.

“The French is 84 percent.

“Celtic Sea haddock where the UK share is 10 percent and the French share is 66 percent.

With them kind of quotas stated above is it any wonder why the EU want to retain its unrestricted access to British fishing waters with the same quotas.

EU demand status quo on fishing access and its quotas.
