John Bercow has been left gutted with his ego dented, as his name doesn’t appear on the peerage list.
It’s believed that the Independent Lords Appointment Commission rejected him after claims of bullying which destroyed his chances of a peerage. Bercow has always denied the bullying claim.
Brexiteers will be extremely happy by this decision after Bercow did all he could to derail Brexit progression while he was the speaker in the House of Commons.
Not only did the speaker have a sticker on his car which read “Bo**ocks to Brexit”, but brexiteers felt he changed rules deliberately to favour remaining in the EU.
His name was put forward by Ex-Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn; this was after Boris broke precedent by refusing to put his name forward for a peerage which was usually a traditional thing to do for former Speakers of the House of Commons.
Jeremy Corbyn also failed to get his two comrades Tom Watson and old chief of staff Karie Murphy into the House of Lords with their names not appearing on the list.
A Labour source said yesterday: “These were appointments suggested by the previous Labour leader.
“We are not involved in the decision-making process.”
