French in mass panic as UK confirms there will be no extention to the transition period.

Macron under pressure on fishing
With Mr Gove telling the EU that it will not be extending negotiation talks past the end of year deadline, French President Macron is in a panic. Amélie de Montchalin, French Minister of State in charge of European Affairs has said, a deal had to be done one way or another.
Montchalin said: “We need to complete the negotiation in four months, which objectively seems difficult to achieve.
“We must without delay prepare for all scenarios, especially that of a no-deal.”
Brexit talks have largely stalled in recent weeks, with both sides blaming the other for the lack of progress.
A member of the French Parliament, Jean-Pierre Pont, brought out a report saying that the French government must keep on fighting for unfettered access into British waters. The report said: “The EU must continue to guarantee that fishing won’t be sacrificed to save other sectors.”
Mr Pont then added: “The Government must stay as firm as possible.
“Britain can’t be better off outside than inside.”
French President Macron has trashed Michel Barnier’s compromise plans as President Macron reaffirms that Barnier must stay firm on fisheries. However, Barnier has stated time and time again, that for the talks to progress, the French have to give in on key areas like fisheries.

With all this bluster going on, it’s clear to see that EU negotiator, Michel Barnier, has got his hands tied. UK PM and EU Commission President are set to meet on Monday. The EU chief hopes that further progress can be made.
