In a shocking move, acting Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey declared that there has to be an investigation to the EU referendum and its outcome. The party will table an amendment to Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Withdrawal Agreement Bill. The amendment will reportedly call for a question within six months of the bill being passed.
The inquiry is very likely to check into former Prime Minister David Cameron’s decision to hold the referendum at the first place, the financing and the behavior of politicians during the effort. This may also have the Government’s handling of the Article 50 procedure called into question. The Lib Dems are also planning to look at the Tories’ handling of key Brexit conclusions, which contains the Government’s refusal to hold another referendum.
However, the sly movement has left social media users frustrated, branding the attempt,“dreadful”.
But some Twitter users said a public inquiry is”crucial”.
One user said:”It’s significant politicians and commentators keep pressing for a full, independent, Brexit query.”
“New evidence continues to emerge. This story is not going away.”
Sir Ed stated:”Countless lies from our prime minister, others in the Tory Party and outside, means questions must be asked about the end result of the referendum in 2016.””The past three years have just gone to demonstrate how much deceit was used throughout the campaign, in addition to how determined the government is to conceal the real effect of what they’re trying to unleash.””We have to handle the conclusions made across the referendum, but also the shambolic approach accepted by the Conservatives in the years since.””To truly understand the events leading up to Brexit, there must be a public question.” READ MORE
