Speaking afterwards, the Prime Minister said it would give him a mandate to “get Brexit done” and take the UK out of the EU next month.
With just a handful of seats left to declare in the general election, the BBC forecasts a Tory majority of 78.
Neil told BBC News: “We have witnessed the passing of power from one establishmet to another. I think this election is incredibility significant.
“The centre-left and centre-right that have dominated this country for decades – John Major, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, Michael Heseltine – it’s over, it’s gone now. Brexit is happening.”
